Rosary Video and Contest

May 28th, 2008

I've been promising a video on how to make a rosary for a while. It's actually very simple. To do this project you will need: 1 Needle nose pliers 1 Side cutter pliers About a foot of chain. More or less depending on how long you want your links to be 6 Large beads 50 Small beads 1 Medal (I don't know exactly what this is called but it has two loops on the top and one on the bottom and usually shows a religious icon) 1 Cross or crucifix. 2 jump rings This is the rosary you will be making. It's also the contest prize. Leave a comment to be entered for a chance to win. The contest deadline is June 15th, 2008. Winner will be announced June 16th. This is part one of the video. [youtube zH1tlkLsFLE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zH1tlkLsFLE] And this is part two. [youtube My5cZ_FgnoQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=My5cZ_FgnoQ] I promised a link to where you can make a knotted rosary, and it's here. If you have questions on making a rosary, ask away. If you want to learn more about praying a rosary, or the history of the rosary, head over to Jane's blog. She's a prolific and brilliant author of Christian fiction, most recently Seven Archangels: Annihilation. May is the month for Mary and Mary is linked to the rosary. I'm glad I got this video done in time to post it before the end of the month.

Wow – Thank you so much for making this video. I am helping our parish establish a girls group and making rosaries is something the girls have asked about doing. I’m a really visual person. Telling me I don’t usually get it but show me & I’m right there. Thanks again for this great teaching tool.

Thanks for the video. Rather new at jewelry, but have been collecting rosaries for years – don’t have them all, as it’s good to give them away and not stash them. I have maybe 20 left of my favorites, and this handmade one of your would be one of them!

Thanks for the podcast, and for introducing me to EarthFaire. Wow, what a great store.

I am sending your link to people that I know are interested in doing this as well. I cannot afford to make one yet, but I am saving for the beads I want. Thank you so much for your kindness in making this video. God Bless You! Your sister in Christ Jesus, Theresa

Thanks for the great video! I’ve recently begun making my own jewelry and have really wanted to make my own rosary, with beads that I’ve collected. This video will really help!!

One question…could you be more specific in your “what you’ll need list.” You don’t advise how many, and what length, eye pins will be required. Of course, I can figure out the number, based on the number of beads, but listing it in the first part would be helpful. The length that you specifically used would be extremely helpful.

THANK you again for the great information and demonstration!!
