Getting Ready for Evenstar
February 2nd, 2010
With clue 3 of the Enchanted Wood shawl done

I’ve moved on to swatch for Evenstar.

I think I want to move up a needle size. Using 3s I get a swatch just large enough when severely blocked. With 4s I get one a snip too big if blocked severely, but with a good drape if blocked to size. There is ample extra yarn, and I don’t mind a shawl too large, so I’ll likely go with the size 4s.

Here are the beads with the yarn.

Here are the beads nestled in the yarn so show how they look together. I went for something that fairly blended for a tone on tone look.

Here’s the whole mess together, ready to go. The yarn is Gloss laceweight from Knit Picks in the mango colorways. It’s been sitting in stash for a while, and this seemed the perfect project for it.
If I have my dates right, the first clue for Evenstar comes out the same day as the last clue for Enchanted Wood–February 12.

Never thought of contrasting beads. Will look great! My tension’s still hugely erratic with lace. I need to make the swatch dbl size, then measure only the 2nd part.
