Comics and Limericks

October 1st, 2009

I’ve had this odd and unexplained fascination with limericks lately.  This may be a form of regression as I’ve also been reading too many comics lately.  The result is that my brain keeps wanting to drop these oddballs into my lap.

There was a young mutant named Jean
one of the first on the scene
she turned into a bird
but the strange thing I heard
it’s forty years later and she’s still a teen.

Peter was a science fair geek
you might call him a bit of a freak
he got bit by a bug
and ran into a thug
now we read of his exploits each week.

Quite the hero was Mr. Fantastic
his limbs seemed made of elastic
when he rose from the chair
we all tried not to stare
for his legs were still stuck to the plastic.

Please make it stop.

Just as an aside, why on earth does the Post, in their review of this novel talk about the special effects?
